The image is of the reverse side of the sculpture, which would normally be turned toward the wall if the surrounding picture frames were treated in the usual way. As we view it, we see an inscription, "For Eli on his birthday! From Alison, Dadaist auntie" followed by the signature of the artist, Alison Ulman," and two dates, "© 2007" and "4/07/07." But glued to the back, not competing with the words, is a scrap of sheet music, the only legible word on which is a fragment of the lyric, "call!" Also visible on the score are the expression notations "p" and "pp," which stand to "piano" and "pianissimo," that is "play softly" and "play very softly." And at the upper right and lower left corners are suspended two keys, with no clue given as to the locks they might, or might not fit, although they are clearly not the missing keys from the front of the piece.
