(Left) The invisible dining room set with invisible tenant is outlined by the items suspended by visible wires over the ghostly furniture. An incorporeal man, delineated only by his pants and the paper he reads, sits casually on a phantasmal chair as his airy coffee cools on the indiscernible table before which he is ensconced. Scattered across the table are dishes, utensils, and other table appurtenances with equally ethereal contents. It is the surreal installation, Adjectives Without Nouns, a suitable venue for wraiths and other castaways.
(Right) A spartan TV room contains what seems to be a console TV in the far corner, next to an archway leading elsewhere to the left. The TV screen has been replaced by a large boulder and, integral to the wall and French doors on the wall beside it on the right, a huge yellow mural, Let’s Go Bowling, of a man bowling takes the action away from the stone “video” in a splash of action and color. The mural is broken into many sections, each mounted separately, with a baker’s dozen of sections replacing the panes of the French doors.
Through the archway on the left, we can see the installation, Wheelchair Access, and other art.Image from San Francisco Examiner Image Magazine, 1988
